SimWalk Airport Terminal
Solution (SATS)
SimWalk Airport Terminal Solution (SATS) provides a comprehensive whole product solution for passenger flow and terminal optimization, integrating strong partners with complementary software and services to cover all aspects from data acquisition to data analysis and modeling and simulation. Additional software and services are provided based on project needs.
PARSON -
Counting and Route Choice Analysis
Origin-destination and route choice passenger data are of crucial importance for simulation projects, but notoriously difficult to obtain.
PARSON, developed by c.c.com Andersen & Moser GmbH, is an innovative IT system that allows to analyse passenger flows in terminals in detail (origin-destination data, passenger route choice) without relying on time consuming questionnaires or manual counting.
PARSON sensor network, located for example at terminal access points, provides accurate data and graphics about passenger number and directions. Origin-destination data can directly be used as SimWalk input data.

PARSON is based on active bluetooth interfaces of passenger mobile phones (see figure above). This short wave technology for data transfer can be identified with an individual address, although it is not possible to correlate these adresses with private data. Data privacy is guaranteed. Based on these bluetooth adresses, it is possible to obtain origin-destination data for modeling and validation with SimWalk Airport.
PARSON system, as an integral part of SATS, complements SimWalk Airport simulation software in data acquisition, passenger flow analysis (origin-destination data) and simulation validation.
IOMNISCIENT -
Station Analysis and Management
Iomniscient has international recognition as a leader in intelligent surveillance software.
Iomniscient tools and services can be used for example to monitor a airport terminal area and alert staff if it becomes overcrowded. It will give a live count of the number of people within an area of interest that has been drawn on the screen.
Other airport specific software applications include crowd density analysis, queue management, congestion analysis in high traffic and crowd counting.
Iomniscient airport surveillance applications complement SATS services on the real-time front end of passenger data acquisition and analysis. For example, iomniscient installations and analysis may serve to gather real-time passenger data for calibrating offline passenger simulation to evaluate "what...if" scenarios of airport terminal hot spots.
PETRACK -
Automatic Video Extraction
In order to understand and thereupon to model passenger dynamics, reliable empirical data of passenger movement are necessary for analysis and verification.
The existing database is small, often inaccurate and sometimes contradictory. Manual procedures for collecting this data are very time-consuming and ususally do not supply sufficient accuracy in space and time.
PETRACK, developed by Forschungszentrum Jülich in Germany, allows to automatically extract accurate passenger trajectories from video recordings (CCTV). The joint trajectories of all passenger provide data like velocity, flow, density and individual distances at any time and position. With PETRACK extensive experimental series with a large number of passengers can be analyzed.

The program has to deal with normal video recordings, wide angle lenses and a high density of passengers. Lens distortion and perspective view are taken into account. The procedure includes calibration, recognition, tracking and height detection.
PETRACK data complement SimWalk data acquisition tools and software regarding CCTV video installations in airports.
