SimWalk Airport Intermodal Features
As a comprehensive management tool for passenger movement issues in airport terminals, SimWalk Airport integrates all capabilities of SimWalk Transport edition.

Because of this, SimWalk Airport is the only airport passenger simulation package that offers full-fledged intermodal simulation capabilities for train, metro and bus connections, carrying passengers to the airport.

SimWalk Transport as the intermodal part of SimWalk Aiport, can be deployed in the following general application areas:
Airport Station Planning
Planned or extended airport stations and refurbishments - Airport station operators and planners constantly have to adapt transit facilities to the increasing capacity needs of public transport connections to airports. Most if not all changes directly influence or are influenced by passenger issues like changing trains, transfer times, walking comfort or dwell times.

SimWalk Transport allows to analyse the impact of different planned airport station layouts (additional platforms, passages, stairs, other objects etc.) on passenger flows, be it a new planned airport station or a station refurbishmment. Highly important objects like platforms as well as under- and overpasses can be analyzed according to Levels of Service and other comfort and security measures.
Airport Station Operations
Boarding and alighting, dwell time, timetable optimization, passenger transfer and security - To manage day to day operations in airport transport facilities, handling delays and other uncertainties is a highly demanding task. The complexity of passenger movements an behavior is one of the main reasons for the failure of analytical tools.

SimWalk Transport fills this operational gap by allowing to simulate realistically every single passenger with its specific behavior - boarding and alighting, dwell time, airport transfer, shopping etc. For the first time an integrated, comprehensive simulation solution helps airport planners and authorities to include public transport passenger movement issues into their operational planning of airports, for example by evaluating dwell times or by optimizing timetables.
Airport Station Evacuation
Emergency simulation of airport rail, metro and bus stations - Public transport transit facilities of airports are also highly vulnerable targets for a multitude of threats: terrorist attacks, natural disasters, technical failures, fires, explosions etc. In cases of emergency it is crucial that passengers can be evacuated from stations safely and in time.

With SimWalk Transport/Airport , airport emergency cases can be simulated and analyzed during normal operations by trigginering an incident. Upon this signal, all passengers try to reach the next emergency exit or any other predefined exit and the respective evacuation time may be analyzed.
