Sports Arena Lucerne, Switzerland 2010
Savannah Simulations AG is conducting an evacuation and egress simulation study of the new "Sport Arena Luzern", Switzerland. The planned stadium with 16'000 seats will be finished in winter 2010.
The simulation study, conducted with SimWalk PRO simulation software, will analyse egress times of spectators in case of an emergency. Egress time is measured until all spectators have reached safe areas outside the stadium.
Simulation of evacuation dynamics is a complex task, taking into account environmental, physical as well as psychological factors. Counter intuitive crowding and blocking phenoma inside the stadium can be revealed with pedestrian simulation.
SimWalk PRO, the pedestrian simulation software for evacuation studies, allows to adjust enviromental as well as behavioral factors of spectators during egress to analyse realistcally evacuation scenarios (more to come).
